We have both live and online classes available. Online classes are recorded so that every family has an idea of what has been taught during class time.
Our classes are available for advanced grade 4 students and for grade 5 students. We begin by introducing children to grammar, vocabulary, writing skills, and reading skills. Our syllabus prepares students for middle school level reading and writing.
Our middle school classes focus on building advanced grammar skills, reading comprehension skills through classic literature, literary analysis skills, and introduction to academic writing. By the end of middle school, students should be comfortable with reading advanced texts and have a base understanding of high school level academic writing.

Our high school classes focus entirely on preparing students to take the AP Literature exam in 12th grade. This includes prose and poetry. Our literary choices are different from the typical choices that are generally made by high schools across the country. This allows students to have a wide array of literature that can be used for the free response essays. The PDF file below also provides our recommendations of literature students can study to prepare for this exam.
We also focus heavily on writing. We practice essay writing by using the questions posed by past AP Literature exams. These exams are available here in the College Board website.
For AP track students, students will need a physical copy of the book on which they will be required to annotate. PDF copies of short stories and poetry will be provided in class.
Please purchase the editions provided above so that the translations match. If we have time, we will either read some or all the Theban Plays.
